How to get to Institute of Cell Biology, Buiding HPM, ETH Hönggerberg
You can get to the ETH Hönggerberg Campus comfortably in about 20 min, first by taking the train to Zürich-Oerlikon and then the bus to Hönggerberg. The current fare for the transfer, including the bus trip, is 5.80 CHF (press the red button on the ticket machine).
The bus stop is on the right handside of Zürich-Oerlikon Station if you are watching your train move away.
A large number of trains connect Zürich's Main Station ("Hauptbahnhof" or, short, "HB") with Zurich-Oerlikon every hour, the transfer taking just 7 min. Please check the big display in the station hall for current information.
You can use a 1-hour ticket (blue button on the ticket machine) or a 24-hour one (green button). Both are valid for all transports inside the Zürich area during the chosen time. The current fare is 4.00 / 8.00 CHF.
Once in Zürich-Oerlikon, take the bus service 80 to "ETH Hönggerberg" (8 stops, 10 min). The bus stop is on the left handside of Zürich-Oerlikon Station if you are watching your train move away.
To avoid having to cross the town, is recommended to enter Zürich from the North, following the A1 highway until Zürich-Milchbuck. There, follow the sign "Bucheggplatz". This so called square is basically a large roundabout, that you should leave in direction "Waidspital" (not "City"!). Follow this road all the way up the hill and, at the top, turn right ("ETH" sign).
Nevertheless, be aware that there is practically no parking space on the campus. If you need to travel by car, please contact your host at the Institute beforehand.
